What to Expect on Your First Visit
We love helping active people stay active and keep doing the things they love! Before you even step through our door, we want you to feel welcomed and prepared for your initial visit with us. Simply click through the topics below to expand each section and get a sense of what you can expect during your first appointment.
What do I need to bring?
Please bring the following:
• Photo ID
• Proof of insurance (if you plan on using insurance benefits)
• Any special instructions provided by your physician (if applicable)
• A positive attitude and willingness to improve!
Should I arrive early?
If you plan to complete paperwork at the office, please arrive 15-20 minutes early. If you would like to complete your paperwork beforehand (click here) and bring it to the office with you, you may arrive just a few minutes before your scheduled appointment time.
What should I wear?
In order to ensure our specialists can appropriately exam your painful area, please be sure to wear clothing that allows access to this area. For example, if you are having knee pain, it is best to wear shorts or loose fitting pants that allow access to the knee. Also, consider wearing shoes that will allow you to exercise (athletic shoes or easily removable sandals). If you are unsure, do not hesitate to call, we are happy to assist you.
How long will I be there?
Your initial visit is likely to take the longest, most often around 60-90 minutes. Subsequent visits usually last anywhere from 45-60 minutes, depending on your needs and how you are progressing.
What can I expect on my first visit?
Your specialist therapist will first ask you questions centered around your main goal (i.e. getting back to your favorite activity, playing with your kids, etc.) followed by a physical exam in which they look for areas of weakness or stiffness. They will then address any areas of weakness or stiffness and work with you to develop a plan to get you back to what you love!
How often will I need to come to therapy?
This will highly depend on the findings from your initial visit, which will be centered on your main goal. Most of our clients return to all of their favorite activities after 8-12 sessions (most often coming to see us 2-3 times a week). In some instances, pain can be alleviated rather quickly but weakness or stiffness remains and other times, pain can take a little longer to resolve, sometimes exceeding 12 sessions. With that said, our team will develop a well thought out plan of care, with your goals at the center, to ensure you are back to your favorite activities as soon as your body is ready!
As you prepare for your first visit, remember, we are here for you! We love working with active people like yourself who are motivated and willing to take action on their health. You have made a great decision in coming to see us and we cannot wait to get to know you more!
